The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Hamilton County from 7:00 PM tonight, December 11, to 10:00 AM Friday. Starting this evening into early next week, we are anticipating several inches of snow accumulation, along with extremely cold temperatures.
Key Updates:

Snow accumulation: In addition to the previously forecasted 2-4” of snow accumulation tonight into tomorrow morning, the National Weather Service has advised that an additional 2-4” of snow accumulation are expected from Saturday afternoon into Saturday night.

Extremely cold temperatures: Below zero wind chill values are expected to begin on Saturday night, earlier than previously forecasted.

Two rounds of significant snowfall are expected to impact Hamilton County this weekend:

What: 1st round of snow is expected to cause 2-4 inches of snow accumulation tonight into tomorrow; 2nd round of snow is expected to cause an additional 2-4 inches of snow accumulation on Saturday evening/Sunday morning.

Where: All of Hamilton County.

When: 1st round is expected to begin around 10:00 PM tonight, lasting to around 10:00 AM tomorrow morning; 2nd round of snow is expected to begin Saturday in the early-evening and continue to around 7:00 AM Sunday morning.

Potential impacts: Hazardous conditions, including slick roads, will likely impact travel. The Friday morning commute is expected to be impacted.

Confidence: The National Weather Service at Wilmington has high confidence in various weather hazards occurring, while the specific locations/amounts/values and subsequent degree of impacts is lower.

Bitterly cold temperatures with subzero wind chills expected in Hamilton County Saturday night through Monday morning:

Hamilton County is continuing to operate at Emergency Activation Level 3 – Situational Awareness and Monitoring. EMHSA Duty Officers are continuing to monitor the winter weather hazards and will provide updates if there are significant changes to the forecast.
